Consolidated B24 Liberator Bomber
This site was visited early winter 99 along with the wreck of the Beaufort, the remains of the B24 Liberator are well scattered across the hill. The Liberator came down in 1944 while on anti submarine duty. I've been reliably informed by Jim Corbett that there were four survivors of this crash, surveying the wreckage I can only conclude that they were very lucky men! The wreckage is dispersed over a wide area of the hill.
Dogbreath looks on as I examine a window frame from the aircraft. Myself freezing to death on part of the fuselage. Flash points out an area of melted aluminium from the fire after impact. Flash stands in one of the numerous areas of wreckage. Piece of aluminium showing the country of manufacture.
