B29 Superfortress at Succoth Glen
We visited this site in the late summer of 99 which afforded better walking conditions (for a change) and unfortunately the chance for Flash to wear some dubious fashion items. The plane came down in 1949 in bad weather and to this day a large amount of wreckage still remains. Unfortunately all twenty aircrew lost their lives in the impact, a memorial stands at the site in commemoration of the event. Respect should be shown if visiting this site.
Myself standing beside the massive undercarriage of the B29, the stainless steel of the ram still shines after fifty years. Indianna Jones and the lost B29, Flash examines the remains of the rear gun turret. Flash takes a picture amongst the remains of the shattered fuselage. Looking up towards the memorial cairn which now stands on the site. One of the four radial engines still lying at the site.
