Wellington Bomber on Muckle Cairn
This was the first site that we visited back in March of 99 as you can see snow was still around in patches. This site originally boasted a completely intacted tail section however this was removed a few years ago by an aircraft museum in England unfortunately. There's still substantial remains however as the photographs display. This aircraft came down in 1941 with the tail gunner being the only survivor.
Myself standing beside the remains of the two wings. One of the Wellington's two radial radial engines. Flash holds up what we believe is part of one of the wings. Flash stands in a fuselage section.
